As if the title isn’t obvious enough, Alice will explain further okay sweeties?
This week is gonna be ALL about the spirit of ROCK & ROLL!!!
From today till friday, I shall be featuring all things Rock Chic Glam!!
But here’s a short introduction to the style, which is one of THE most exhausted fashion inspirations used of all time.
“First came the music, then came the look.”
The whole rock chic fashion movement began back in the 40’s with the birth of Christian Dior’s New Look. Due to its overtly scandalous nature, it was banned and forced underground.
It wasn’t until the early 60’s that the style found a new outlet in the form of the pret-a-porter collection of Yves Saint Laurent.
Since then, Rock ‘n’ roll has been exploited to death by a zillion couture houses. Perhaps rightfully so.

Alice personally is a fan of Alexander Wang and his take on the style with the over-sized sleeveless blazer and exposd zippers! Simple but edgy!
Designers from Vivien Westwood back in the 70’s to Jean Paul Gaultier, Gianni Versace and Thierry Mugler have all been inspired by the rock and roll influence, in terms of design and contributing to the rebirth of the style.
Recently, the once rusty French fashion house, Balmain, has experienced a shooting star re-birth, burning a path of recoqnition and rekindling the fashion world’s love for all things rock and roll. Think, marching band jackets, acid washed denim, caged and studded heels.
Rock and roll jsut got a revival of sorts and how else better to celebrate than to pay tribute to the style in our day to day wardrobe?
When Alice thinks of rock chic glam, I think velvet, leather, scarves, suede, fringe, studs, chains, and a tonne of attitude to pull it all off!!!

Be ready to layer rugged leather jackets and studded accesories over feminine dresses. Incorporate rock and roll elements into boring old accesorie like studding tose converse shoes or layering chains of different texture and patterns over dresses!
Take a cue from these celebrity fashionistas on their interpretation of the rock and roll spirit!!

Who says rock chic glamour cannot be transitioned unto the red carpet eh?! See how both Audrina Patridge and Erin Wasson keep it casual and chic, while Ashley Olsen keeps it simple and subdued.
I am particularly fond of the Nicki Hilton’s outfit. The way she styled the look makes it totally acceptable for a formal dinner or a high society glamour event without looking like a guerilla gate-crasher!
Remember one thing though, rock chic glamour is all about accesory on accesory! But as most of the individual pieces are stand out, it is important to remember one thing. Keep everything at a minimal!
A completely studded jacket matched with exposed zipper pants and paired with a fringed bag will be FASHION SUICIDE sweeties!
Keep it simple and classy with a little bit of everything. As our fashion mentor, Coco Chanel once said, ” When accessorising, always take off one last thing you put on! “.
So this upcoming week, it is going to be all about bags with attitude! Althought truthfully, all bags at AliceWonders.com are bags with attitude!! ;)
Do look forward for lots of pleasant surprises and the new additions to our WONDERLAND!
Till then, Alice has got some White Rabbit hunting to do!!
xoxo
Alice.
